Sponsorship of the National Eisteddfod Competitions

 

The Chelmsford and District Welsh Society has been sponsoring competitions for young people at the National Eisteddfod of Wales since 1984/5. At that time a donation of £100 was made and this was invested by the organisers and the annual interest was used to provide prizes. Over the years the value of the money depreciated and the method of sponsoring competitions changed.

Now each year the society makes a lump sum donation to the Eisteddfod organisers, and we are able to select the competition(s) we wish to sponsor.

We like to encourage the up and coming youth talent of Wales and to this end our sponsorship is usually split between competitions for boys and girls.

 

Recent Sponsorship includes:

 

2006 Swansea Eisteddfod – Girl and Boy Solo Singing - 16 to 19 years old

 

2007 Mold Eisteddfod – Brass and Woodwind Solo under 19 years

 

2008 Cardiff Eisteddfod – Girl and Boy Solo Singing 16- 19

 

2009 Bala Eisteddfod - Girl & Boy Solo Step Dance.

 

2010 Ebbw Vale Eisteddfod, Blaenau Gwent - Girl and Boy Solo Singing - 16 to 19 years old

 

2011 Wrexham Eisteddfod  - Girl Solo under 16 years old & Girl Solo under 19 years old

 

2012 Vale of Glamorgan     - Girls Solo 19 - 25 years.  2nd & 3rd place.

                                            - Boys Solo 16 - 19 years. 2nd place

  

2013  Denbigh                    - Girls Solo 16 - 19 years  1st place  Winner: Ceri Haf Roberts

                                                - Boys Solo 16 - 19 years  1st place  Winner: Siôn Eilir Roberts
